Jonathan Jones's untitled (transcriptions of country) explores the colonial impact of the 1800–1804 French expedition led by Captain Nicolas Baudin. This major scientific venture amassed a vast collection of Australian specimens and cultural artifacts, now mostly dispersed or lost. The publication, building on Jones’s 2021–2023 exhibitions in Paris and Sydney, showcases new insights into this historical moment.

The project reimagines over 300 plant species collected in Sydney through 308 unique embroideries, crafted in collaboration with migrant women from Western Sydney who engaged with Aboriginal Elders to deepen their understanding. Additional elements include portraits of Eora people, a soundscape by Lille Madden, a film by Jazz Money, and ceramic and carved emu egg works.

Accompanied by archival illustrations and 18 essays from diverse contributors, the book offers a nuanced exploration of cultural translation, decolonisation, and the dialogue between past and present.
