Hany Armanious is a major monograph on the artist's practice, published to coincide with the exhibition Hany Armanious: Stone Soup at Buxton Contemporary, Melbourne, in 2025, following the earlier iteration of the exhibition at Henry Moore Institute, Leeds, in 2024. Stone Soup brings together a focussed selection of works produced, for the most part, over the last fifteen years.
This publication delves into Armanious's art practice through a sequence of images he curated in collaboration with publication designer Roland Brauchli. Emphasis is also brought to the works' titles, some of which give a clue to possible meanings. The image selection is accompanied by new scholarship on Armanious's work by co-curator Laurence Sillars, who considers the artists engagement with mimesis, estrangement and the replica, reflecting on how these qualities both converse with and diverge from the traditions of sculpture.
