In association with the ACCA exhibition that shared its name, this publication invites us to scrutinise feminist, queer, and non-binary perspectives, delving into the subversive delights and emancipatory potentials of horror—be it through its creators, interpreters, or enthusiasts.

Curated by Elyse Goldfinch and Jessica Clark, the anthology features insights from luminaries such as Barbara Creed, renowned for her seminal work 'The Monstrous Feminine' and Kier-La Janisse, whose exploration of cinematic horror in 'House of Psychotic Women' has achieved cult status. Lisa Fuller, a Murri author celebrated for 'Ghost Bird' and Alison Peirse, the editor behind 'Women Make Horror' contribute their unique voices, each enriching the discourse on horror's allure and its transformative power.

The volume showcases an array of artists including Clare Milledge, Cybele Cox, and Louise Bourgeois, among others, whose works transcend conventional boundaries. From the eerie to the mundane, they challenge societal norms, weaving together elements of dread, camp, and dark humor to provoke introspection on themes of identity, gender, and the unknown.

From the Other Side not only defies the confines of horror's traditional narratives but also embraces the fluidity of its existence within and beyond societal constructs. It emerges as a provocative synthesis that compels us to reconsider our perceptions of the self, the body, and the unsettling yet compelling realms of the 'other.'
