Among Buildings invites readers to reimagine the architecture around them. This collaboration between photographer Tom Ross, architect and poet Michael Roper, and graphic designer Stuart Geddes explores 26 key Melbourne buildings through photography and poetry.
In its second edition, Among Buildings is presented in a lay-flat binding, enhancing the dialogue between image and text. Drawing on place, myth, history, and personal experience, it offers intimate reflections on iconic structures like Robin Boyd’s Featherston House, the Griffins’ Capitol Theatre, and Yuncken Freeman’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl.
Rather than attempting a comprehensive study, the book offers a series of open-ended, personal fragments—glimpses of a city’s architecture through a kaleidoscope of imagination. An introduction by architect and poet Alex Selenitsch sets the stage for this thought-provoking exploration.
